Today marks the beginning of a new venture. A horrifingly, scary new venture. I am going to go public with my attempts to lose weight and become healthy. There will be wailing and gnashing of teeth.
There will be pictures.
You should be scared.
This blog is entitled "Baby Making Madness" because that is really what is spurring this on. My husband and I have two children and are ready to make a third. Thus my need to get healthy. My first two kids left my body a mess by leaving behind all that extra weight I gained. (Its really selfish of them if you think about it - I mean, I gained it for them!) With my first child I had the cute round baby belly. With my second I still had the cute round baby belly from the first so he just kind of stretched it out a little more. I gained 40lbs with each pregnancy but only lost about 20 each time. I'm no mathematician but I don't think I broke even. Hmmmm.
So here is my plan.
1. Weigh every day and *shivers* post it.
2. Start a crazy, short term fitness regime designed to reduce belly fat, increase endurance, and incorporate fitness into activities with my kids. I hope to develop a routine that I can carry into pregnancy and modify as the pregnancy progresses.
3. Begin following a healthy diet that will help in losing weight but that can be incorporated into pregnancy as a balanced source of nutrition for mommy and baby.
4. Blog about the process and the results in order to keep myself accountable and perhaps help any others along the way.
I should state that I am not a fitness expert or dietitian. I am a stay at home mom who is self-educated in matters of pregnancy, family, fitness, and health. So take it for what its worth.
