"The Plan"

Okay.  I fully intended to start this a week ago but my body decided to play host to a lovely flu-like virus for a week.  Now its gone and here we are!

The purpose of this post is to lay out "The Plan".  The plan that will get me back to being healthy and on our way to growing our family.  The plan includes my short term and long term goals and the methods I'll use to achieve them.

Goals:
1. Lose weight.  Be less fat.  Take up less space.  This covers losing weight before conception and after baby.
2. Improve health during pregnancy.  This basically means doing all the good positive stuff I can do to make myself stronger and healthier while at the same time baking a bun in the oven.  (It probably means I won't be eating as many oven baked buns...)
3. Avoid excess weight gain while pregnant.  Unfortunately, I fall into the "obese" category.  That means that a healthy weight gain of between 12-20 lbs.  Depending on who you talk to, of course.  My midwife told me at the beginning of my last pregnancy that 15lbs would be fine.  I gained 40.

Methods:
1. I will be following the Bradley diet plan.  I have had several women recommend it as a great pregnancy plan.  I am going to start it before I get pregnant because its just a great dietary plan. I actually started it last week but I didn't post it on here so I guess it doesn't count?  Not sure how that works.  I will be posting more specifics on that later.  I will also be counting my calories and trying to stick to between 1400-1800 a day.  It sounds like a lot but given the level of activity I hope to maintain, it will be a great number to help me lose.
2. I will be following an active exercise plan.  This will consist of gym workouts, home workouts, and a daily increase in physical activity with my family.  I'll be sharing more about my workouts as we go.  I hope to develop a plan that will be a bit crazy-paced at first but when and if we conceive I will dial it down accordingly throughout the pregnancy.

Tomorrow is Day 1.  I will be weighing in.  I will posting pictures.  You have been warned.
