Day 16. Yo. God.

Today's weight: 213.2
And that's with my monthly visitor hanging around.  I actually feel pretty good about it.  I had a false low over the weekend of 211.  That's what happens when your body tries to wear your stomach on the outside.

Today's summary:
I nailed it.  All of it.  And it was gooooood.
My diet was really good, even with having a MOPS meeting.  I don't know if you've ever been to a MOPS group, but its full of church ladies.  And church ladies like to bring food.  Lots of good, yummy, stick-your-thighs-food.  I got a small plate.  Filled it with mostly protein based stuff.  Then added on a few donut holes.  Not exactly a diet breakfast but I more than made up for it the rest of the day by sticking to my plan and getting in lots of exercise.

My exercise is where things got really good:
I woke up at 6:30am and went for a walk, about half a mile.  Then after lunch I did 10 minutes on the elliptical.  After dinner, hubby and I took the kids on a walk, a little over a mile.

But the best part of my day occurred at the MOPS meeting at my church.  We had a guest speaker come in and conduct a class.  A yoga class.

 A "Yo-God" class.
Yoga moves are excellent exercise.  The quiet time that the practice requires is excellent for prayer and meditation.  In traditional yoga, the focus is Hindu teachings and sayings.  The woman who teaches this class, however, is a Christian and thought it would be wonderful to combine the physical tenements of yoga with meditation on the Scriptures and prayer and worship towards God.  It was such a spiritually uplifting experience that I almost forgot that I was exercising!  45 minutes just flew by. Not only was I spiritually recharged but I was so much more relaxed and my sinuses cleared up!  She teaches a few classes at churches in the area and doesn't charge.  I will definitely be taking another class, possibly on a regular basis.

So I got my exercise done today!
My hope and prayer for all of this is to find balance in all the areas of my life.  Right now eating is an area of my life that is seriously out of whack.  Lack of physical activity is another.  I need to get these areas in balance and to learn moderation and self discipline.  Today almost felt like a balanced day.

It was nice to get off the yo-yo.

  1. When the girls were about a year old, I started a PiYo (Pilates/Yoga) class at my gym. By the time I had to give it up in June, I don't think my body had been so toned since I quit gymnastics in 8th grade. I can't wait to start again when I graduate from school.

Good job on getting your exercise in. I'm really proud of you.

  2. They offer a "yogilates" class at my gym on Saturday mornings. I really want to go but its during the time my husband teaches music lessons so I have to take care of the kids. One day I am going to figure out how to make it work! I used to do pilates back when I was actually in shape and it was awesome. I felt so strong. I am going to the "yo God" class either this Thursday or next Thursday. I'll let you know how it goes! Thank you so much for your encouragement Michelle :) And since I don't see you on FB - how are you and the girls doing?
