Day 23. I have a saboteur. Her name is Meredith.

Today's weight: 213.  Hi 213.  Did you miss me?

Sometimes I think I am my own worst enemy.  In fact, I know I am.  I am my own saboteur.  I may change my reasons and my methods but in the end, I am always guilty of screwing things up for myself.

My weapon of choice this time, Halloween candy.  Not the hard candy, I am leaving those for my kids.  It was the chocolate.

My son is allergic to peanuts so I took all the candy with nuts and peanut butter out of the mix.  And just to be safe, I took out all the other chocolates too (because many are prepared on machines that also produce peanut products).  I put them in a separate bucket and lied to myself.  I said, "You can just eat one a night.  Moderation."

Yeah, right.  That worked for about 20 seconds.

The upshot is now they are all gone.  I don't want to get on the scale tomorrow.
But I will.
And I will post it.
And I will cry.
(Or I will begin all of my sentences with conjunctions.  And only then will my downward spiral of self-destruction be complete.)

Feel the burn
Today I decided to look up how many calories are burned doing every day activities.  I would like share my findings with you.  Hopefully this information will change your life in some monumental way.

To start with, I found a website that calculates how many calories I burn on average throughout the day.  Given my sex, age, weight and height and a "light activity" level, I burn approximately 2390 calories throughout the day.  So theoretically, if I ate less than that each day, I would actually start losing weight.  I guess I am going back to good ole calorie countin'.

After that, I used this site to calculate how many calories different activities burn.

Here is a short list:
5 minutes brushing my teeth would burn - 20 calories.
45 minutes carrying an infant burns - 268 calories!  I wonder if that varies based on their weight?
30 minutes of cooking burns - 128 calories
20 minutes playing piano - 89 calories.  Wow, both healthy and educational.  Guess I'll be busting out my old sheet music!
30 minutes of ironing - 109 calories.  Well, I guess that might be worth...  Nah.  Nothing can trick me into ironing.  I hate ironing.

Actually, hate is not a good enough word.
I loathe ironing.

Even loathe isn't strong enough.  What's stronger than loathing?  Whatever it is, that's what I feel about ironing.

20 minutes of putting away groceries - 85 calories
30 minutes of studying - 89 calories

and
30 minutes of playing with kids - 192 calories.
Guess we'll be going outside tomorrow!  I know two little ones who will be very happy :)
