Right? I mean they look pretty in pictures don't they?
My husband and I just finished watching a documentary called "Food, Inc". I may be a little late on this but since we don't have television, cut me some slack!
Have you seen this? Do you know where our food comes from? Do you know what they do to it? If you haven't seen it, here's the link:
Food, Inc
Its available on Netflix. I highly recommend it to anyone who is looking to eat healthier and do good by other Americans.
Those of you who know me know that I am far from "crunchy". There is no granola in my kitchen. But I am a firm believer in people having the opportunity to be successful in life and some of the things I learned about some of these food companies really upset me. Especially how they go after the farmers who refuse to be under their thumbs.
I went right and bought some free range chicken eggs and organic sugar. I'm on the bandwagon.
Truthfully we've been moving toward eliminating processed foods from our diets in the name of health, so this is just speeding us along our way.
In other news:
I tried to post yesterday but something was wrong with blogger. But yesterday I went way over my calories. By some miracle of God in heaven I still lost this morning. 211.4! We are on our way to healthier us and hopefully an addition to our family this year.

Yep, we've seen it. It's truly horrifying. Horrifying and inexcusable. We eat mostly whole foods (and I also happen to be vegetarian for personal health reasons). Good for you for making a shift toward whole foods. It's challenging at first, as one adjusts to different flavors and longer food prep times. But the trade-off in health benefits for the long haul is absolutely worth it.
